Primary Research Areas
1. Investigation of the control mechanisms of standing and locomotion
2. Development of effective interventions to improve the functional capacity and quality of life of the elderly and patients with movement dysfunction and to enhance evidence-based practice of physical therapy
3. Promotion of health and safety of older adults
Recent Research Focus
1. Posture and locomotion control of the elderly and patients with neuromuscular deficits
2. Role of sensory function in movement control
3. Functional recovery and cortical reorganization in patients with stroke
4. Elderly fall prevention
Special Features
1. Using precision biomechanical measures for the analysis of kinematics, kinetics and electromyography of human movements
2. Using prevision instruments for the measurement of function of the sensorimotor system
3. Combining clinical and biomechanical/precision measures to provide practical clinical directives
4. Collaboration with international renowned scholars and institutions
5. Encouraging and supporting graduate students to attend international conferences. Starting from 2006, every graduate student from this lab has received funding and made oral or poster presentations in international conferences in Germany, Australia, Canada, Japan, and Turkey.
